PRIOIRITIES

"Every individual deserves to be treated with respect and ought to receive an equal, fair shake. Not only is it a good place for politics, it is good for society, our country and the person inside of you who drives your every motive to be who you are."

WHAT DISTRICT 38 DESERVES

Economic Equality - Livable Wage

We must allow Georgians to have the tools necessary to improve their quality of life

  • Increase minimum wage with multi-year step increases from Georgia's current wage of $5.15 to $15 over ten years

  • Implement equal pay-equal work standards

  • Create a state earned income tax credit

  • Increase protections for rights of organized labor

  • Work to increase the rights protected by the FMLA

  • Increase workforce training opportunities

Criminal Justice Reform

We must work to increase equity and efficiency in the Justice system by implementing alternatives for low-level offenders but hold serious offenders accountable.

  • Decrease imprisonments for economic dependency due to fine/bail system

  • Restore sentencing power to judges removing mandatory minimums and sentencing requirements

Property Tax Reform - Senior Service
hh

Georgia’s seniors deserve the highest level of treatment from the state. I will continue the fight for increasing seniors access to healthcare, working with MARTA and other transportation agencies to improve mobility services and tax reform for the betterment of our seniors.

Affordable Housing/Gentrification

h

As a State Senator, I would author legislation that requires Metro Atlanta developers to build low-cost (below market value) housing in different areas around the metro area in exchange for the rights to develop other projects around the metro area.

Equitable Georgia

h

Every individual deserves to be treated with respect and deserve an equal, fair shake. As a State Senator, I would author and support legislation allowing members of the LGBTQUIA+ community to have the same rights as any other person in our society. I would strongly oppose legislation focused on denying rights of any citizen.

Transportation

We must work to build a strong transportation system to ensure equitable and affordable access for more Georgians

  • Increase LMIG funding for municipal road improvements

  • Increase funding for State Roads and public projects aimed at reducing congestion among public roads

  • Increase opportunities for alternative transportation methods and new emerging technology

  • Increase education for T-SPLOST opportunities

  • Redesign the MARTOC Joint Committee to deliver results for an effective public transportation system

Healthcare

Access to a quality healthcare system should not be privilege, but a right

  • Expand Medicaid to coverage of all applicable Georgians

  • Introduce legislation to accept the $1.2 billion dollars allocated to Georgia for Medicaid expansion from the US Congress

  • Increase funding for community health centers and clinics to make healthcare more affordable

  • Increase resources for maternal mortality in Georgia

  • Create a study committee to review the possibility of an additional Emergency Room south of I-20 in Fulton County

  • Introduce legislation to amend Georgia's Certificate of Need

Environmental Protection

Our natural resources deserve governmental regulatory protections

  • Increase dependency on solar and work with PSC to end dependency on nuclear/wasteful power generators

  • Increase funding for local stormwater and flooding system

  • Implement new regulatory procedures from environmental degradation and protect water, air and land from pollution

  • Prevent offshore drilling

  • Increase funding for alternative transportation methods

Protecting Voting Rights

Every Georgian must have equitable access to the ballot box.

  • Educate members of the public on voter intimidation tactics to limit voter misinformation

  • Amend Georgia's curriculum to ensure that American Government/Civics are taught to high school seniors instead of high school freshman - as it is currently written

  • Advocate against measures that seek to diminish and dilute voting power among minority groups

  • Increased funding for county election offices

  • Introduce legislation to make election day a State Holiday

  • Implement non-partisan redistricting commission for creation of non-partisan districts

Confederate Statue Removal

I am strong believer in maintaining our history. However, our government facilities and public parks are not the place for these remembrance items. Any statue or fixture that is located in a public place should be relocated to a museum so that it is properly maintained.
